Minna wanted her professional library to be used. Now is the time to request books you want to host or sign up for updates on open sessions to browse and re-home remaining books. Details about the book-sharing talkoo will be added here
The books need homes and if you want to help out, this is a great opportunity to share time with books and see them off to new homes.
M-cult has kindly hosted nearly 30 boxes of books for the Minna Tarkka Library Project during the process of cataloguing and stamping them all in preparation for distribution. They have now given us a residency window in December to complete the process we began last year.

Talkoo Overview
Now open: expressions of interest for taking some of the books into your own library
1-8 Dec Processing requests
Mon 8 Dec – Organise talkoo space and help us bring books up from basement to work area. We need several strong people for a short time to help with this.
9-11 Dec – Checking the boxes against the catalog and presorting books allocated to libraries. We need people
12-17 – Scheduled pick-ups / deliveries & open browse sessions to choose unallocated books. We’ll need people around to update the digital library as books go out and help people find books from the catalog etc.
16-18 Help moving books out. We might need help from strong people and people with cars on these days.
Some ways to get involved:
- Express an interest in hosting some books–browse the catalog and tell us which books you would like to host and why.
- Volunteer to help evaluate competing requests, if there are any.
- Tell your organisation’s librarian about the project.
- Tell other artists and researchers about the collection
- Lend some muscle to the effort of getting books out of storage.
- Volunteer to transport books.
- Tell us about small public bookshare spots near you and collect unclaimed books to give away.
- Tell us a story about Minna related to the books you want to take or read aloud from them for our Reading Aloud tribute project.
- If you or your organisation has resources consider offering a pay-as-you-feel contribution to the work of cataloguing and distributing the collection.
